Easter happens to be the most exciting event and perhaps the holiest in the lives of Christian community. But what exactly does happy Easter means? What is the point of origin & what’s the history behind?

Well, the true origins of this holy festival are still unknown but, some of the resources indicated the derivation of the event from an Easter word named” Eostre”, which is a Teutonic goddess of spring and richness. While, certain other evidences links Eater to a Latin term “hebdomada alba”, or the famous white week, which is a prehistoric orientation to Easter week and the white cloth dressed up by Christians, got lustrated during that time frame.

Easter is the day of Resurrection of the Jesus from the Dead or you can say that this is the day when Jesus got a new life. When he was crucified on the cross on the day of Good Friday, he got a new life after that. Most Christians refer to the week before Easter as “Holy Week” since it contains the days of the Easter Triduum, including Maundy Thursday, commemorating the Maundy and Last Supper, as well as Good Friday, commemorating the crucifixion and death of Jesus. In Western Christianity, Eastertide, or the Easter Season, begins on Easter Sunday and lasts seven weeks, ending with the coming of the fiftieth day, Pentecost Sunday. In Eastern Christianity, the season of Pascha begins on Pascha and ends with the coming of the fortieth day, the Feast of the Ascension.

The week prior to Easter is known as Holy Week and involves: Maundy Thursday, which celebrates Jesus’ last dinner with his disciples; Good Friday is the day that pays homage of crucifixion of Jesus Christ & Holy Saturday, which revolves around the phases between the crucifixion and resurrection. The 50-day era followed by Easter Sunday is known as “Eastertide”, which is a festivity of Jesus’ ascension into heaven.

Christians believe in enjoying the day with pagan traditions & beautiful themes, like: Easter eggs, bunnies, colorful baskets and soft candies forms an integral part of the festival holiday.

In a nut shell, Easter is phrase that has been transformed with the passage of time, although it doesn’t appear in Bible like, Christmas & no prior in-church festivities have been observed in Scripture, but has become a tradition among the followers. Easter is a movable treat, always known to be celebrated on the Sunday immediately followed by the Paschal Full Moon.
